BOSTON, June 28 (Nationwide Times) — A duck boat overturned near the Charles River entrance in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on Saturday, injuring at least six people and prompting a response from local and state officials.
Cambridge police said some of the injuries were minor and two were classified as more serious, while Boston EMS said 11 people were injured, including one with serious injuries. Authorities said the tour boat had 32 people aboard when it turned on its side.
The boat overturned near a ramp on Museum Way near Education Street shortly after 3 p.m., according to Cambridge police and Massachusetts State Police. Cambridge police spokesperson Bob Reardon said, “It was reported that a tour boat with 32 persons aboard turned on its side.”
Reardon also said Cambridge Fire reported that everyone aboard had been accounted for. Officials said none of the passengers ended up in the water.
The cause was not immediately clear in the initial reports. Massachusetts State Police said it would lead the investigation, and one account said the boat was being towed when a tow rope broke.
