NEW YORK, June 9 (DC Times Online) — President Donald Trump drew a mixed reaction at Madison Square Garden when he was shown on the arena’s big screen during the national anthem before Game 3 of the NBA Finals, Fox News reported.
Fox News reported that the crowd reaction included some cheers and louder boos as Trump saluted from a suite at the New York City arena.
A Getty Images caption by photographer Samuel Corum identified Trump at the start of Game 3 on June 8, 2026. Fox News reported the game was between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs.
Trump was shown alongside his granddaughter, Kai Trump, and Knicks owner James Dolan, according to Fox News. The outlet reported Kai Trump was on the president’s right and Dolan was on his left when the arena shot appeared.
Fox News contrasted the reaction with Trump’s appearance earlier in the year at the College Football Playoff national championship at Hard Rock Stadium, where it reported he was cheered when shown on the video board during the national anthem.
Fox News also reported that the Madison Square Garden video later returned to NYPD officers holding flags on the court.
