WASHINGTON, June 15 (DC Times Online) — Sen. Mitch McConnell was admitted to a hospital in Washington on June 14 and was “receiving excellent care,” his office said, without disclosing why the 84-year-old Kentucky senator was hospitalized.
David Popp, McConnell’s spokesperson, did not publicly provide a reason for the admission or identify the hospital.
In a June 16 update, Popp said McConnell was “fully engaged with staff on Senate business and Kentucky matters.”
McConnell was also hospitalized earlier this year. On Feb. 2, Popp said McConnell checked himself into a local hospital for evaluation after experiencing “flu-like symptoms” over the weekend.
McConnell was discharged on Feb. 10. After his release, Popp said McConnell was feeling better and would work from home for the rest of that week on doctors’ advice.
